When the term smart contracts was first introduced in the summer of 2014, its relevance and potential for logistics and supply chain management was immediately clear to me. Since then, I have been actively involved in development of blockchain based logistics solution, strategic consultancy on blockchain and quartermaster for a dedicated blockchain and logistics fieldlab in the City of Rotterdam. Blockchain could be the foundational technology that integrates the physical flow with the financial and informational flow in a wide range of industries, such as financial services, logistics, telecoms and commodity trade, enabling new business models and more efficient transactions.
