M Jagannath Rai

Former Chairman & Founder Director, U.S. India Importers’ Council

Jagannath Rai, affectionately known as M.J., is the Founder Director of Titan Sea & Air Services Pvt. Ltd. (TSAS)—a globally recognized freight forwarding company established in 1994. He is also a Founder Director and Former Chairman of the U.S.-India Importers’ Council (USIIC). 

The USIIC, a not-for-profit organization, promotes trade and economic cooperation between the U.S. and India. As Director and Chairman, Mr. Rai played a pivotal role in enhancing institutional ties and policy-level engagement between Indian and U.S. trade bodies. His leadership strengthened the Council’s role in fostering bilateral trade, investment, and strategic dialogue. 

Mr. Rai graduated from Mangalore University (1983) and began his logistics career at Mackinnon  Mackenzie & Co. Ltd., one of India’s oldest British shipping firms. He later joined Air Link India Ltd. (now CEVA Logistics), overseeing U.S.-bound charter flights and international vessel operations. 

In 1994, MJ launched TSAS, which has since evolved into an ISO- and AEO-certified company,  specializing in sea and air freight, with a strong focus on global door-to-door movement of project  cargo and heavy machinery including many Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). 

In 1999, he expanded into global trade by founding Titan Overseas Corporation Pvt. Ltd., which soon  gained recognition for strengthening U.S.-India commercial ties. The company was acknowledged by  USIIC for its contribution to U.S. export growth—an organization backed by the U.S. Department of  Commerce and U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai. 

MJ also served as Chairman of the Shipping Line Committee at BCBA (2014–2020), while serving as a  Managing Committee Member at Brihanmumbai Custom Brokers Association (BCBA). 

A committed philanthropist, MJ founder Member of the Gajanan Leela Charitable Trust (1998), which  supports over 600 orphaned children in their education and development. 

With over 40 years in logistics, M. Jagannath Rai remains a driving force in strengthening India’s position in the global freight and trade landscape.
