Mr. Gene T. Ochi is a member of the Executive Board for the Supply Chain Institute of the Marshall School of Business of the University of Southern California. He also sits on the International Advisory Board for CEU University, Spain’s largest Private University and serves as an Associate Professor. Ochi continues to consult for major companies in the areas of entrepreneurship and growth. Ochi previously served on the board for TrendPoint Systems until its sale to Schneider Electric.
Ochi was one of the original investors in UTi Worldwide and was the person responsible for client growth from 1993, until he retired in February 2015. For 23 years, Ochi oversaw the growth of UTi from startup to $5 billion in sales and managed a marketing and sales force of over 1200 people located in 60 countries. Under Ochi’s leadership, UTi grew from nothing to $1 billion in sales faster than any other company in the sector. Ochi held various positions including a member of the Management Board; Chief Marketing Officer; and Executive Vice President and President of Client Growth. As an operator, Ochi was responsible for the Western Region of the United States P&L.
Prior to UTi, Ochi served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for BAX Global and Vice President of Marketing for WTC Air Freight. Ochi spent 14 years at Flying Tigers responsible for customer service and market development worldwide prior to its acquisition in 1989 by FEDEX.
Mr. Ochi received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
