Biography

Greg Brown, Executive Director of the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST), is a graduate of Occidental College, Los Angeles, with over thirty years of global food industry experience. His transition from restaurant/entertainment operations into seafood occurred in while living and working in Singapore (1990-2005), where his various leadership positions there culminated in over ten years of service for Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden) as Director of Seafood Procurement. Greg returned to the U.S. to become Director of Category Management, Seafood at US Foodservice (now US Foods). After four years in that role, and a some time doing his own independent seafood consultancy, he pivoted to become Vice President of Corporate Procurement for Flying Food Group (airline & chain store catering), but then came back to seafood as Corporate Strategic Sourcing, Seafood for Caesars Entertainment. In 2014, Greg moved into product quality verification and seafood certification at NSF International (where he was stationed in Shanghai for three years) in a dual role as Global Managing Director, Seafood and Region Managing Director, NSF China. He returned to the U.S. in 2017 to join the executive leadership team at the Global Aquaculture Alliance (now Global Seafood Alliance) rising to Senior Vice President of Operations & Strategic Development, with responsibility to oversee the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) Operations, Program Integrity, and CSR engagement. Greg Brown has been the inaugural Executive Director of the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability since February 1, 2022.
