Biography

Ron Volpe is the CEO of TraceChain, a traceability software, certification, and education start-up focused on enabling trade compliance based in Los Angeles California. 

Ron is a global supply chain leader and design-thinker with a wealth of diverse experiences. As Vice President at Kraft Foods, he led the Global Supply Chain Center of Excellence, the Supply Chain Strategy team, created the first cross business Integrated Supply Chain organization, and led the PMO that split Kraft Foods and Mondelez. While at Kraft, he also led a partnership with the Palo Alto design firm IDEO, creating a global retailer engagement model that he took to 34 countries. His work with IDEO, and the global food industry, is profiled in the books The Ten Faces of Innovation and Creative Confidence by Tom Kelley. 

In 2013 Ron moved to Australia to join mega-grocer Coles as General Manager, running Central Supply Chain, Business Development, Transformation, and People and Culture. While at Coles, he also led the Business Unit Initiative across all functions that transformed Coles Operating Model from functional orientation to a business/category orientation impacting 120,000 team members. 

In 2018, Ron joined the Danish unicorn start up and supply chain fintech company Tradeshift as Chief Supply Chain Officer and VP Global App Business Development where he focused on building a platform-based ecosystem of supply chain applications that enabled companies to accelerate their digital supply chain transformation. Ron also created the Tradeshift Podcast series Supply Change, which he also hosted. 

In 2020, Ron joined the Danish scale up supply chain traceability software company PSQR where as Chief Commercial Officer he led the expansion of PSQR to the global market, and to new verticals such as seafood. His focus was largely on the growing regulatory landscape mandating traceability for reasons such as product safety and ESG. 

In late2023, Ron launched TraceChain, a new venture aimed at creating a new scale player in the trade compliance space with a focus on the hundreds of new global regulations requiring traceability capabilities, most of them in the ESG and Food Safety areas. 

Ron is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, is a frequent conference speaker, and resides with his family in San Francisco California.
